Kenyon Sadiq's 'dream' Debut Demonstrated His Value To New-look Jets Offense

Jets rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq had an NFL debut to remember in the team's wire-to-wire 23-10 win on the road against the Tennessee Titans.

On New York's opening drive of the season, Sadiq punched it in for a touchdown, zooming across the backfield to take a jet sweep three yards and into the end zone.

On his first career TD, Sadiq showed off the speed that helped him become a first-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. The 16th overall pick was drafted by the Jets out of the University of Oregon, where he exploded in his junior season (2025) with eight scores in 14 games played.

"It's something you dream of," Sadiq said of his first day as a pro, which also included three catches for 21 yards.

He gave credit to his teammates, including fellow tight ends on the field, for his touchdown.

"I just have so much gratitude for all the guys," Sadiq continued. "Mason [Taylor] and Jeremy [Ruckert] are the reasons I scored there... they both made great blocks and made my job easy."

The Jets offense didn't turn the ball over against the Titans, as QB Geno Smith spread the wealth, accumulating 215 passing yards on 24 pass attempts with seven different Jets notching a reception.

"That's the way we want to start the year off, touches getting around. That's what we expect from our offense," Sadiq concluded.

Smith himself shared the same philosophy as Sadiq in his postgame interview.

"We've got guys, different tight ends and wide receivers and running backs who can all make plays," Smith asserted.

Of course, the veteran signal-caller made sure to heap well-earned praise on the talented 21-year-old individually.

"What we've seen from [Sadiq], he's a guy that will make an impact with the little things he does. He showed up in a big way today."

"There's just not a lot of guys in the league that run sub-4.4 - there's really none - that are 240 pounds that can play all those positions and can handle carries, can block and can catch the ball."
