Klay Thompson Not Happy After Kevin Durant Disses Former Warriors Teammate: 'never An Mvp In Nothing'

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant is never shy about sharing his opinion. The future Hall of Famer has developed a reputation for being outspoken and argumentative on social media, often with hilarious results.

Sometimes, though, Durant can get himself in trouble with his takes, and that's exactly what happened when he appeared to diss former Golden State Warriors teammate Klay Thompson on Monday.

It all started after Durant responded to an Instagram post and argued that the 2026-27 Philadelphia 76ers are more talented — on paper — than Durant's championship-winning teams with the Warriors.

Durant's argument, however, may have offended a few of his former teammates on those Warriors teams.

His comment read:

"Ain't close lmao. Joel, MVP recently. Jaylen Brown, recent Finals MVP, Tyrese Maxey, All-Star the last 3 years. We all know what Bron does. Klay Thompson, never a MVP candidate in nothing, 22ppg. Draymond, 14ppg, 7 rebounds 6 assist, Steph a MVP just like Joel was. I don't get how the Warriors team is better on paper."

Durant may not have meant to diminish the contributions of Thompson and Draymond Green, but both took offense to that comment.

Thompson was the first to weigh in, asking Durant, "u good?"

Green added his own comment, saying Durant probably thought he was using a burner account to respond to the original post.

Though they were bothered, both Green and Thompson shouldn't feel the need to defend their production. Both players were essential to the Warriors' dynasty during that period. Both could be enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame one day.

Despite that, Durant's comments clearly struck a nerve. Still, Thompson and Green can rest easy knowing they've won two of their four championships without Durant, who can't say the same.
