If the Knicks don’t fix their excrement, New York is about to become first-round fodder.

Adding insult to injury, the loss to Houston came on the first game of a back-to-back affair that has the Grizzlies on the schedule today.

Imagine losing another one to the Teddy Bears. Sheesh…

Mike Brown

On starting games slowly:

“To start the game, we were poor defensively. They didn’t feel us at all, especially in the pick-and-roll game. Against KD, we went under two to three times early. He’s hot, we’re not supposed to go under, and he knocked down shots. We didn’t make shots going the other way. That’s what it comes down to.”

On struggling with early deficits:

“Obviously, we got down big to start the game. I sound like a broken record, but when you get down like that against a good team, it’s going to be hard to come back from. They’re feeling good about themselves and it makes it harder as the game’s along, and makes it an uphill battle because you have to play fast and look to attack.”

On the lack of defensive consistency:

“I’m frustrated with that part. I thought we made strides against Oklahoma City. Got to give our guys credit. We came out and they felt us. Tonight, everything was just real easy for (Houston), especially in the pick-and-roll. They didn’t feel us at all.”

On keeping starters in late:

“To see if we can defend a little better, have five guys on a string. And then offensively, see if we can keep moving the ball and attack the right way.”

On team staying together despite the never-ending losses:

“I think the togetherness is there. Now, like any other team – throughout the course of the season, sometimes you feel like it’s not there, sometimes you don’t. But if I’m talking overall, yes, I do. But tonight, it wasn’t – especially in the pick and roll. And there are isolated times where it feels like you’re not on a string defensively and/or offensively, and tonight was definitely one of ’em – especially on the defensive end of the floor.”

On the Knicks’ recent struggles:

“The last few games, we haven’t had it. And teams go through stretches like that. We’ve got (six) more games to try to find it.”

"…It don't matter what we do…We have to figure it out"

Josh Hart

On a poor opening stretch agains Houston:

“That effort, the attention to detail, the discipline was pretty embarrassing. So, we’ve got to figure it out, make sure we’re all locked in mentally to get where we want to go and, like I said, build on that.”

On the team’s current struggles:

“We’re obviously struggling right now to win games. Struggling to start games off. Struggling to focus on the attention to detail. Struggling to get outside of ourselves and focus on what the betterment of the team is. So [Wednesday] we have to play with a sense of desperation. Sense of being willing to sacrifice, to win.”

On trending in the wrong direction ahead of the playoffs:

“We’re not going in the right direction. We’re not trending upwards. So we got to figure it out. Three tough [losses in a row]. Got another one tomorrow. That’s a must-win for us. And build from there.”

On the Memphis game being critical for New York:

“Must-win.”

Melo "KD & Rockets needed this game…Knicks coming off tough stretch––

TMac "Don't do that…

Melo "Just sayin…end of a road trip––

VC "a 4 game road trip

Melo "…people tired, you see KAT

Maria "Cavs 1/2 game behind. You said Rockets need a win? Knicks need to hold on

Jalen Brunson

On Houston’s dominance on Tuesday.

“They did whatever they wanted.”

On responding as veterans:

“Regardless of being veterans or not, we got to turn the page and do something about it. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in the league or not.”

On the worrying late-season collapse:

“There were mental lapses and things that shouldn’t be happening in Game 75 or 76, whatever this is. We have a long way to go.”

On the need to trend upward before the playoffs:

“Well, we don’t want to turn on the switch. We kind of want to be trending in the right direction as we come down to the end. It’s clearly things that we still need to work on and I’ve always said we don’t want to be a finished product, that we want to continue to get better and better and better, even in the playoffs. There’s obviously a lot of things that we still need to work on as a team.”

Why can’t we do this in 1st quarter

Miles McBride

On returning from midseason surgery:

“It’s tough having surgery in the middle of the season, especially on an area that’s so important to everything you do. So it’s just going to be a learning process. I’m going to figure it out, though.”

On leaving the game against the Thunder with scar tissue pain:

“Scar tissue is built up because it tightens everything. And now it’s getting more elastic, stretching out. I came down, tried to switch gears, and the scar tissue is ripping and getting better. Surgery is going to cause pain. I’m not sure when it’s going to fully subside. So whatever I can do to help the team win.”

On his shotting struggles after coming back from injury:

“Honestly, I haven’t played in two months, and it was kind of a longer process of being able to get on the court and really do a lot at a high intensity. And the last two weeks is when I really take the high intensity up, and even then you’re still dealing with so much. So it’s going to take time.”

Mitchell Robinson

On his impact when on the floor:

“My impact is always incredible.”

On teammates finally throwing lobs and respecting him:

“We talked about it all year [throwing me lobs for alley-oops]. They finally started to throw it a little bit. That’s great.”

On his health and mindset this season:

“I feel awesome, ready to go.”

On his approach to free agency:

“It is what it is. We’re going to figure that part out when the time comes, brother man.”

Karl-Anthony Towns

On wanting to play in a different way than Brown has planned for him:

“I would like to be in the post, yes.

“Of course, I would like to do it again. I would like to utilize my talent and my size. But we decided to do something different.”

On why he’s not using his best skills:

“Just executing our offensive game plan, what our game plan and what we drew up and what we want to accomplish. I don’t know. I’m just trying to do whatever I can to impact winning, honestly.”

On the team not having reached its best version yet:

“I don’t think we’ve seen [the best version] yet. I think we still have these games that show it. We’re still learning what we’re trying to accomplish in the system and everything. So I think for us our best basketball is when we’re causing turnovers and we’re translating them into transition points, playing with pace and maximizing what everyone does so well and what makes them great. We’ve got time. Not a lot. We’ve got time.”

On being happy with whatever his role is:

“I just do my best to cheer for my teammates, and whenever my number is called, be the best version of myself for my team.”

Q "You hit a shot, pounded your chest, said something to Knicks bench?"

KD "Knicks bench got a lot of energy. Starting 5 feeds off them so much, you even see it on TV…Sochan's def a great teammate, pumping his guys up all the time…All in fun, part of game, I respect that team" pic.twitter.com/tszj45pE07
