Kyler Murray Injury Update As Vikings Qb Suffers Concussion Vs. Packers

The Minnesota Vikings lost their starting quarterback, Kyler Murray, after he took a hard hit to the head in the first quarter of their Week 1 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Murray was sliding to the ground when Packers safety Javon Bullard hit him hard. Murray took a blow to the helmet and remained down on the ground after the play.

Murray received medical treatment on the field while Bullard was flagged for a 15-yard personal foul. He was eventually able to walk off the field under his own power but headed straight to the locker room for further evaluation.

The Vikings announced Murray has been ruled out of his Vikings debut because of a concussion.

Murray completed 3 of 5 passes for 19 yards and an interception before exiting the game because of the injury. The 29-year-old also logged nine rushing yards on two carries.

Murray will now turn his attention toward returning to the field for the Vikings in the coming weeks. He will have to clear the NFL's concussion protocol to see the field.

What happened to Kyler Murray?

Murray was injured after he slid for a 2-yard gain on a third-and-7. The veteran quarterback was hit hard by Javon Bullard as he went to the ground and took a blow to the helmet in the process.

Murray remained down after the play and received treatment on the field from the Vikings' medical staff. He eventually walked off under his own power but was taken straight back to the locker room for further evaluation.
