The Detroit Lions are taking on the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, marking the first game ever played at Highmark Stadium this Thursday night. With a short week ahead, practices leading up to the game will be a bit different for both teams.

As with most teams preparing for a Thursday game, the Lions will significantly scale back their practices leading up to the game. On Monday, they ran a walkthrough (and will probably stick with walkthroughs on Tuesday and Wednesday as well), so participation levels for this initial practice are only estimates based on what the coaching staff projects each player could have produced in a full practice.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at Monday’s injury report and get you up to date with what we know. Note: any changes from the most recent injury report will be bolded.

Injured list updates

  • RB Isiah Pacheco (MCL/Back) — injured reserve
  • C Cade Mays (Wrist) — injured reserve
  • OL Giovanni Manu (Undisclosed) — NFI
  • S Brian Branch (Achilles) — PUP
  • S Kerny Joseph (Knee) — PUP

No changes here; all five players must miss, at a minimum, the first four games of the season.

Estimated no practice on Monday

  • LG Christian Mahogany (hip) — INJURED in WEEK 1
  • RT Blake Miller (knee) — NEW INJURY

Just 11 plays into the opener, starting left guard Mahogany fell while pulling on a run play. While on the move, he was tripped up and landed awkwardly, leaving for the remainder of the game. After the Lions’ win, Coach Dan Campbell told the media that initial tests were negative, but additional testing was still needed. With a short week ahead, the Lions may need to turn to Be Bartch to fill in at left guard again.

Miller didn’t appear to suffer an injury in the game, but it’s possible that his knee began to bother him after the game, and with a short week, this may be a proactive move. We should find out more at Campbell’s press conference later today.

Estimated limited practice

  • C Juice Scruggs (knee) — NEW INJURY

Like with Miller, Scruggs’ injury was previously unknown, and we will hopefully find out more from Campbell soon.

Estimated full practice

  • DB Christian Izien (groin)

Izien told the media last Friday that he felt good, but his Week 1 availability was up to the trainers. The Lions didn’t play Izien against the Saints, but as Campbell previously alluded to, they were certainly considering it. An estimated full practice is a great sign that he could return to action this week.

No longer on the injury report

  • EDGE Derrick Moore (hamstring)
  • DL Mekhi Wingo (groin)
  • LB Trevor Nowaske (knee)
    LB Jimmy Rolder (hamstring)
  • CB Keith Abney (hand)
  • CB Ennis Rakestraw (ankle)
  • S Thomas Harper (ankle)

The players listed in this section were on last week’s injury report but have rehabilitated enough that they no longer need to be listed. All are expected to be available to play on Thursday.
