Luther Burden Injury Update After Bears Wr Limps Off Field At Practice
Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III exited the team's Aug. 8 practice early after suffering an apparent leg injury.
Burden's injury occurred after he landed awkwardly during a 1-on-1 repetition. The 22-year-old receiver exited the field favoring his left leg but was able to walk into the locker room with a member of Chicago's training staff.
The Bears did not immediately provide an update on Burden's status.
Burden is expected to be a key part of Chicago's offense during the 2026 NFL season. He totaled 47 catches for 652 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie but will be elevated into a full-time starting role across from Rome Odunze after the Bears traded DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills during the offseason.
If Burden has to miss any time because of his practice injury, Kalif Raymond – who came over from the Detroit Lions in free agency – would likely temporarily step into the Bears' No. 2 receiver role. Fellow veterans Scotty Miller and Jahdae Walker would also be in line for more work along with third-round rookie Zavion Thomas.
