Mason Rudolph Will Take Qb2 Reps Over Will Howard, Drew Allar
The Pittsburgh Steelers will hold their first training camp practice Wednesday morning at 11:30. Among the biggest battles that will continue from OTAs and mini-camp is that of the backup quarterback position, one that head coach Mike McCarthy shined a light on as he opened camp speaking to the media.
McCarthy revealed that Mason Rudolph will take second-team reps, with Will Howard and Drew Allar taking third-team reps. In OTAs, it was Howard who was taking the second-team reps, but it will be the veteran who gets the nod – at least to begin camp.

Many have wondered if the Steelers will do what few teams have ever done – keep all four quarterbacks on the roster. When asked if it was an option, McCarthy gave a brief response.
“Why wouldn’t it be?”
It’s something few teams have done. Since 2013, only five teams have kept four signal-callers on the roster to start the season. Should it come down to Rudolph or Howard, the former sixth-round pick could be the odd man out.
