Miami Dolphins Training Camp Position Battles 2026: Wide Receivers, Cornerbacks On Fans’ Minds

Last week, we took a look at some of the key training camp position battles for the Miami Dolphins this summer. We highlighted five of them, wide receiver, offensive line, edge, cornerback, and safety, then asked you for your thoughts on which battle would be the most important for the team this year.

You responded in our SB Nation Reacts poll and clearly, pass catching and stopping opposing pass catchers is your concern. The results came back with 31 percent of the vote thinking the wide receiver position will be the most important position battle this summer, while cornerback in with 30 percent of the vote. The remaining just over a third of the result was split between offensive line (19 percent), edge (13 percent), and safety (seven percent).

As we said last week, FanDuel Sportsbook’s betting odds have Miami as the AFC team the least likely to make the playoffs this year (+1500 – double the odds of the next closest team, the New York Jets), and the camp battles at wide receiver and cornerback – and how they play out – could go a long way toward the Dolphins beating those odds.

I want to see our CBs do their thing. Be physical at the line, make those WRs miss them routes and tackle.

OL. It’s the one thing that I keep going back to. I want our OL to really do some damage.

EDGE. I know Chop will break out this season. Who else is going to step up.

I’m excited. It’s football season boys and girls. But when they said Tackling is going to be part of the practices, man I got real excited. Phins Up!!!

All positions are valid but I said CB because if they are constantly getting torched over the top it’s going to be a long year. Lots of unknowns back there too but hopefully Hafs can get them coached up quickly.

Even though the DTs are young they have some experience now so I think they will do better against the run now helping out the secondary.

Safety is going to be an interesting competition. Need one cover and one very physical to stop the run. Hoping they have the right ones in camp so we do not have to look for replacements before the season starts.

I put Edge, mainly because if they can’t generate QB pressure, it’s a long day for the Secondary.

Calling out the EDGE and DBs. Both are critical if we want to stop offensive teams like the Bills, Pats, Lions, and Niners. The Edge must put pressure on opposing QBs on every play for the backfield to have a chance. Looking forward to watching Johnson adjust to the NFL, but who will anchor the other side?

WR/EDGE for me.

Can’t judge Malik if the WR’s suck.

Can’t really judge the defense if we can’t get any pressure, even the best DB’s get picked apart if they have to cover for 5+ seconds.

Going with edge because if they don’t give us any pressure then the secondary will get lit up. Got to have this position group have at least moderate success or the whole defense will be trash.
