Mike Evans Makes Big Impact In 49ers Debut, Including A Td In Big Victory Over Rams

It had to be weird for Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans to see Mike Evans in a different uniform for the first time in Evans' great career.

It also had to be weird, yet familiar, to see him pull in a big touchdown catch.

Evans scored 108 touchdowns over 12 seasons with the Buccaneers and it didn't take him long to get No. 1 with the San Francisco 49ers. In the third quarter on Thursday against the Los Angeles Rams, Evans made a contested catch in the end zone for a 2-yard score. It looked like many of those 108 scores he had in Tampa Bay. It gave the 49ers a 17-7 lead and eventually helped them run away with a 27-7 win in Australia.

Evans had an impact right away in the season opener. He had three catches on the 49ers' first drive of the game, all of which were third-down conversions. He finished with six catches on seven targets for 49 yards.

It didn't take long for Brock Purdy to determine Evans is a great option when he needs to get a big completion.

It had to be bittersweet for the Bucs to see one of the most popular players in franchise history doing well with the 49ers. If Evans plays like this all season, he'll end up very popular in San Francisco as well.
