Myles Garrett Could Make Rams Return Next Week, Per Report

The Los Angeles Rams could get back Myles Garrett as soon as next week against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Garrett’s potential availability would provide a significant lift for a Rams team that is 2-3 and facing another midseason “must-win” stretch after a slow start.

Garrett has not played since Week 1, missing four games since he went on IR with a knee injury following arthroscopic surgery.

Garrett knee history

Garrett’s knee issue initially began causing problems during training camp, creating uncertainty surrounding his availability and ability to perform at his usual level. Although the veteran defensive end has continued working toward a return, the lingering issue has complicated his path back to full strength. The Rams have taken a cautious approach to his recovery, prioritizing his long-term health rather than rushing him back before he is ready.

Even though the decision came late, after the team’s week 1 loss to San Francisco, it was the right decision as the team pursues a Super Bowl with the combination of Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald.

Garrett’s return timeline became clearer this week when Rapoport discussed the situation during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. According to Rapoport, Garrett was given a recovery timeline of approximately six weeks following knee surgery. With the procedure taking place the Monday after the season opener, Week 7 represents a realistic target for his return.

However, head coach Sean McVay indicated that Garrett would not return to practice this week, leaving some uncertainty surrounding the exact timetable.

Although Week 7 remains the most recent update, the Rams will need to ensure Garrett is “return to performance” not just “return to play”. The team needs the Myles Garrett they acquired, not a version that is playing with limitations or at a limited capacity.

Garrett recorded zero tackles in his first game with the Rams in Week 1 against the 49ers. He had an NFL record 23 sacks in 2025 with the Cleveland Browns and 125.5 career sacks en total. Garrett had hoped to have even more sacks in 2026, but now L.A.’s only goal is to get him back in one piece.
