Nfl Betting, Odds, Lines: Betting Trends To Know For Week 3's Biggest Games

Card image cap

NFL favorites took care of business during the opening week of the 2026 season, winning 12 of 16 games. They also posted a slightly profitable 9-7 ATS mark.

Not much changed in Week 2. Although there were three shocking upsets — the Ravens, Buccaneers and Chargers all lost as substantial favorites at home — favorites still finished 11-5 SU and 8-8 ATS.

Which brings us to an interesting NFL betting trends narrative that is present on the Week 3 oddsboard: Road teams are favored in nine of 16 games, with five of those visitors laying more than a field goal.

How have road favorites fared so far in the young season? 7-1 SU, 5-3 ATS.

Sticking with the prevailing Week 3 theme, my latest NFL betting trends breakdown features four road favorites among five of this week's marquee matchups.

New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars (-3, 45.5)

Moneyline: Patriots +130/Jaguars -155

• The Patriots are one of just eight teams off to a 2-0 ATS start. After covering the closing 3.5-point spread in a season-opening loss at Seattle, New England throttled the visiting Steelers 20-3 as a 4.5-point home chalk in Week 2.

The last time the Patriots had a three-game point spread winning streak to begin a season: 2016. New England is 4-5 SU and 2-7 ATS in Week 3 since 2017.

• Jacksonville's nine-game SU and ATS winning streak ended in Denver in Week 2. After building a 13-3 third-quarter lead, the Jaguars surrendered 17 unanswered points to fall 20-13 as a 2.5-point underdog.

As they return to Florida, though, the Jaguars have this positive NFL betting trend working in their favor: They're 9-1 SU and ATS in their last 10 regular-season home games, with six double-digit blowouts.

• Including the narrow spread-cover at Seattle, the Patriots are 6-2 ATS in their last eight regular season contests as an underdog with five outright upsets.

Also, much like Jacksonville has been dominant at home, the Pats have been road warriors of late, going 8-2 SU and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 as a visitor.

• The Jaguars' defense is yielding an average of just 14.6 points per game over the last 10 regular-season games, while holding nine opponents to less than 21 points.

The Patriots' stop unit has been just as stout, allowing 36 total points over the last four regular-season games and limiting 15 of its last 20 regular-season opponents to 21 points or fewer.

That being said, the over is 4-0 in Jacksonville's last four at home and 4-2 in New England's last six on the highway.

Minnesota Vikings (-1.5, 42.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Moneyline: Vikings -120/Buccaneers +105

• Minnesota ran its winning streak to seven with last week's 9-3 victory in soggy Chicago as a 4.5-point underdog.

The Vikings, who are one of eight remaining unbeaten teams, are 6-0-1 ATS during their heater (3-0 ATS on the road and 3-0-1 ATS as a favorite).

• A week after tallying 59 points at Carolina, the Bears mustered just a single field goal against Minnesota's defense.

That defense is now yielding an average of exactly 11 points during the seven-game winning streak, with only two opponents tallying more than 13 points.

• Tampa Bay endured one of the NFL's biggest upsets of the young season in Week 2, falling to the Browns 23-19 as an 8.5-point home favorite — the same Browns team that got whacked 34-10 in Week 1.

Bet the Minnesota Vikings to cover the spread at sportsbooks

The Buccaneers have now failed to cover the point spread in 11 consecutive games. They're also 0-2 SU and ATS for the first time since 2014, when they dropped their first three games on the scoreboard and at the betting window.

• Two other dubious NFL betting trends working against Tampa Bay: Since 2021, the team is 1-4 SU and 0-5 ATS in Week 3. The Bucs are 0-4 SU and ATS in their last four games as an underdog.

• Since Week 17 of the 2024 campaign, the over is 8-2 in games at Raymond James Stadium.

Conversely, the under has hit in four of Minnesota's last five road outings. The Vikings and their opponents failed to top 29 points in any of the four contests that fell short of the total.

Baltimore Ravens (-3, 52.5) at Dallas Cowboys in Brazil

Moneyline: Ravens -180/Cowboys +150

• Like the Bucs, Baltimore was stunned as an 8.5-point home favorite in Week 2, falling 24-17 to the Saints.

One week after racking up 506 yards and 41 points (on five touchdowns) at Indianapolis, the Ravens managed just 312 yards and two TDs.

• Dallas bounced back from a 28-20 opening loss at the Giants with a 37-20 Week 2 blowout of Washington, easily cashing as a 4.5-point home favorite.

It was the first time since a 31-28 upset of Kansas City on Thanksgiving Day (Week 13) that the Cowboys covered the point spread. On the bright side, Dallas is 5-0 ATS (3-1-1 SU) in its last five as a home underdog.

• Baltimore hits the road looking to improve on this solid NFL betting trend: It is 6-1 SU and ATS in its last seven as a visitor.

In the six victories, the Ravens outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points (30.7-14.7).

• Cowboys QB Dak Prescott had four touchdowns last week against the Commanders. Not including games he departed injured, Prescott has tossed multiple TDs in 26 of his last 36 contests (including 14 of 18 at home).

This week, he faces a Baltimore secondary that has permitted multiple passing TDs just once in the last seven games.

• The over is 15-5 in the Ravens' last 20 road games (playoffs included). Nine of those contests cleared 52 combined points, including a 28-25 victory at Dallas in Week 3 of 2024.

Also, the Cowboys' first two games of 2026 have soared past the total. The over is now 20-6-1 in the Cowboys' last 27 games (7-0-1 in the last eight), including 9-4-1 in Dallas.

During this stretch, the Cowboys and their opponents have hurdled 52 points a dozen times.

Los Angeles Rams (-2.5, 45.5) at Denver Broncos

Moneyline: Rams -145/Broncos +120

• The Rams shook off the effects of an uninspiring 27-7 Week 1 loss to San Francisco in Australia with a Monday Night Football rout of the Giants by a near-identical score (28-6).

With its resounding victory as a 6.5-point home favorite, Los Angeles improved to 22-9 SU and 21-10 ATS in its last 31 regular-season games.

During this stretch, the Rams are 9-4 SU and 10-3 ATS in true road games, and 8-2 SU and ATS as a road favorite.

• Denver followed an ugly 31-10 season-opening loss at Kansas City by rallying from a 13-3 halftime deficit to knock off Jacksonville 20-13 as a 2.5-point home favorite.

The Broncos have now won 14 of their last 16 regular season games, but are only 7-8-1 ATS.

• Denver also is 14-1 SU in its last 15 regular-season contests in the Mile High City, but only 5-4-1 ATS since the start of last season. However, two of those point spread triumphs were outright upsets as a home underdog.

In fact, the Broncos are 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five when catching points (the only setback coming in Week 1 at Kansas City).

• Denver has held three of its last four regular season opponents to 13 points or fewer, and 10 of its last 16 foes to less than 20 points.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles has tallied at least 28 points in 10 of its last 13 contests (including four of five on the road).

• Both the Rams and Broncos have stayed under the total in each of their first two games.

However, the over cashed in seven of L.A.'s eight true road contests last year (including the last five in a row). All seven topped 50 combined points.

Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5, 41.5) at Chicago Bears

Moneyline: Eagles -225/Bears +185

• Philadelphia kicked off 2026 with a pair of narrow victories, following a 24-22 home win over the Commanders with a last-minute 24-20 comeback triumph at the Titans in Week 2.

The Eagles failed to cover the spread as a six-point favorite vs. Washington and seven-point chalk at Tennessee), and are now in an 0-4 ATS funk dating to last season (playoffs included).

Philly hasn't begun a season with three straight non-covers since 2020.

• After compiling eight touchdowns and 552 yards in their jaw-dropping 59-37 victory Week 1 at Carolina, the Bears returned home and managed just one field goal and 297 yards in a lackluster 9-3 home loss to Minnesota as a 4.5-point favorite.

Despite that setback, Chicago remains 13-6 SU and 14-4-1 ATS (playoffs included) since starting last year 0-2 SU and ATS.

Over this 19-game period, the Bears are 7-3 SU and ATS at home, and 6-4 SU and 8-1-1 ATS as an underdog (including a 24-15 upset of the Eagles as a 7-point road underdog in Week 13 last season).

Bet under 41.5 total points in Bears-Eagles at sportsbooks now

• Here's are several impressive multi-year NFL betting trends involving the Eagles:

They started 4-0 or better three times in the past four seasons. Philly was 4-0 in 2025, 5-0 in 2023 and 8-0 in 2022. And while they split their first two contests in 2024, the Eagles then embarked on a 10-game winning streak.

What's more, Philadelphia opened up 7-3 ATS last year, 8-4 ATS in 2024, 8-2-1 ATS in 2023 and 5-2 ATS in 2022. The team's Week 3 mark over this four-year span: 4-0 SU and ATS.

• The under is 6-1-1 in the last eight games played at Soldier Field. Five of those contests fell short of 42 combined points.
