NFL Preseason Week 2 roster notes for Saturday, Aug. 22

Commanders at Lions

Jayden Daniels is expected to play for the Commanders today in his first game action since Dec. 7 of an injury-plagued 2025 season.

Jared Goff and most of the Lions' frontline starters will have the day off.

Check out our full Commanders vs. Lions predictions.

Bills at Browns

With the Browns' QB battle broiling, Shedeur Sanders is expected to get the entire first half to lead the offense, before giving way to Deshaun Watson.

Josh Allen and the majority of Bills starters will be idle.

Check out our full Bills vs. Browns predictions.

Falcons at Colts

Only depth players will see the field in this one. Jack Strand will have the first-half offense for Atlanta, while Indy counters with Riley Leonard.

Ravens at Vikings

The Vikings are expected to sit their starters today, meaning Kyler Murray is out and JJ McCarthy is in.

Lamar Jackson is not expected to see the field.

Check out our full Ravens vs. Vikings predictions.

Saints at Rams

The Saints will use this game to evaluate quarterbacks Zach Wilson and Spencer Rattler, meaning Tyler Shough will be on the sidelines.

Matthew Stafford and the rest of the Rams regulars are expected to have the day off.

Check out our full Saints vs. Rams predictions.

Giants at Dolphins

Giants QB Jaxson Dart is expected to start, though it could be on a very limited basis. Malik Willis is also expected to take the field for the Dolphins, with backup Quinn Ewers (groin) ailing.

Check out our full Giants vs. Dolphins predictions.

Bears at Bengals

The Bengals have announced that none of their starters will play, including Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase. The Bears are expected to follow a similar course.

Check out our full Bears vs. Bengals predictions.

Eagles at Patriots

Following some strong joint practice sessions, Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are expected to play very little tonight, if at all.

The same can be said for Drake Maye and the Patriots' No. 1 unit.

Check out our full Eagles vs. Patriots predictions.

Chiefs at Buccaneers

Bake Mayfield will make an appearance for the Bucs tonight, but he isn't expected to have his full complement of offensive weapons. Chris Godwin will be the No. 1 wide-out.

Justin Fields, Garrett Nussmeier, and Chris Oladokun will split time under center for the Chiefs as Patrick Mahomes continues to recover from last year's knee injury.

Check out our full Chiefs vs. Buccaneers predictions.

Cowboys at Cardinals

Carson Beck continues to nurse a rib injury following his brilliant Hall of Fame Game performance, and Jacoby Brissett is getting the veteran rest treatment. Expect to see plenty of Gardner Minshew and Kedon Slovis in their stead.

The Cowboys sat most of their starters in Week 1, and are expected to do so again.
