Patriots Lose K’lavon Chaisson To Commanders On Reported 1-year Deal
The New England Patriots have suffered another loss in free agency. Edge defender K’Lavon Chaisson, who led the team in sacks in 2025, is headed to the Washington Commanders.
According to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Chaisson is signing a one-year deal worth $12 million with his new team.
Chaisson, 26, joined the Patriots on a one-year, $3 million contract last offseason. Initially a rotational player on the edge alongside Harold Landry and Keion White, he earned a starting role in training camp and never looked back.
He ended up starting 12 of the 20 games he appeared in, playing 833 defensive snaps (64.9%). Chaisson finished the year with 43 tackles and ranked first on the Patriots in sacks (10.5), pressures (73), tackles for loss (14) and forced fumbles (3). He also scored his first career touchdown when he scooped up a loose ball against the Titans in Week 7 and returned it 4 yards for a score.
The 2020 first-round draft pick, who previously also spent time in Jacksonville, Carolina and Las Vegas, is the fourth free agent to depart New England this week. The team previously lost tight end Austin Hooper to the Falcons, offensive tackle Vederian Lowe to the 49ers, and defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga to the Chiefs.
NFL free agency proper will begin at 4 p.m. ET. From that point on, signings can be made official.
