Gabe Jacas’ rookie holdout has reportedly come to an end.
The New England Patriots signed the second-round linebacker to a four-year, $8.6 million contract on Saturday, the first day of Pats training camp, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Jacas was the only player from the 2026 NFL draft class left unsigned.
The holdout was believed to be injury-related as Jacas underwent a “cleanup” knee procedure during the offseason.
“We’re not going to get into the injuries,” head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters on Friday. “I mentioned that Gabe had a surgery to take care of some things. And that’s where we’re at.”
Before Saturday’s practice, Vrabel said there was no update on Jacas and that the 22-year-old wasn’t in New England. About an hour later, Jacas was reportedly signed.
The Patriots traded up to select Jacas with the 55th overall pick in April. The Illinois product registered 11 sacks, 13.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles last season and is expected to make an immediate impact for New England this upcoming season.
