Patriots Vs. Steelers Wednesday Injury Report: Carlton Davis Iii Sidelined As Several Return

The New England Patriots returned to practice without two members of the active roster.

Offensive tackle Dametrious Crownover and cornerback Carlton Davis III stayed sidelined during Wednesday’s preparations for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But recent absences ranging from offensive lineman Ben Brown to linebacker Robert Spillane were on hand in Foxborough. The same would also go for running back TreVeyon Henderson, who had been ruled out for the season opener due to an ankle injury stemming from August.

Here’s the first injury report ahead of Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium.

Davis played 49 out of 50 defensive snaps last week as his began September in the loss column. The veteran corner briefly exited in the first quarter of the Super Bowl LX rematch against the Seattle Seahawks after halting a carry no gain. He missed Wednesday’s practice due to a neck injury, while a rookie reserve in Crownover was a non-participant due to a knee injury.

The Patriots went with a trio of limited participants on Wednesday. On the offensive side, Brown had been out since sustaining a knee injury in the preseason opener yet was back for a bonus practice at the start of the week. A pair of starters across the ball also logged partial sessions because of lower-body ailments. Off the edges, Jones recorded the first sack of the 2026 campaign in his New England debut. And off the ball, a team captain in Spillane played 100 percent of the defensive snaps in what became a 13-10 loss.

In the backfield, Henderson graduated to full participation for the Patriots after traveling but landing among the inactives last week at Lumen Field. “I think he’ll be able to do some more,” head coach Mike Vrabel said of the No. 38 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft before Wednesday’s practice. “He’ll be able to do some more today, so we’ll continue to evaluate that and see where he is. And hopefully, that continues to trend in the right direction.”
