Raiders Te Brock Bowers Considered 'day-to-day' After Undergoing Knee Surgery, Missing Week 1
Brock Bowers appears to be on the verge of returning to football sooner than later.
Days after news broke that he'd undergone surgery to trim the meniscus in his injured knee, the All-Pro Las Vegas Raiders tight end is considered "day-to-day" in his recovery.
That's according to Raiders coach Klint Kubiak, who provided the update on Bowers' status to reporters on Monday. It's not clear yet if Bowers will be able to return to the Las Vegas lineup for Week 2 next Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. But it's an encouraging sign for a Raiders team that played on Sunday without its most potent weapon in the passing game.
Bowers, a two-time Pro Bowler in two NFL seasons who was named first-time All-Pro as a rookie, is a cornerstone of the Raiders' offense. Las Vegas thrived on Sunday without him in a 27-13 win over the Miami Dolphins as running back Ashton Jeanty powered its offensive attack with 147 yards and two touchdowns from scrimmage.
But that was against a Dolphins team that projects as one of the worst in the NFL. Week 2 against a hungry and desperate Chargers team that lost unexpectedly in Week 1 to the Arizona Cardinals should prove a considerably tougher test.
The Raiders would certainly like to have Bowers back for that matchup. But they shouldn't be expected to rush Bowers back until he's ready to play without increased risk of further injury.
Bowers tallied 112 catches for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie in 2024. He was a Pro Bowler in 2025 despite being limited to 12 games due to a PCL sprain and bone bruise in his left knee.
