Rams Release Special Teams Returner Alex Bachman, Who Will Be Next Up?
The Los Angeles Rams released Alex Bachman as they continue to try and figure out their special teams. They released Xavier Smith earlier this year. They’re currently using Brandon McManus for field goals and Joshua Karty for kickoffs. The Rams are trying to adjust their special teams.
Are their changes working? Not yet because they keep making changes. So far, McManus has been perfect, but will he deliver in the clutch? How long will Karty be used for kickoffs? Who will be the next return man for L.A.? Will the Rams go with someone who will just catch or someone with upside on the return?
So many questions for the special teams unit, but as of now, Bachman won’t be one of them, and the Rams are still trying to find answers.
Rams Release Alex Bachman as Special Teams Overhaul Continues (si.com)
“The Los Angeles Rams have made another change on special teams as they head into Week 9. On Tuesday, the Rams released wide receiver and kickoff/punt returner Alex Bachman. Over the past several weeks, the Rams have been working to make improvements to their special teams unit, and Bachman being released is the latest indication of that.
Earlier this season, the Rams turned to Bachman after they released wide receiver Xavier Smith from the same role. While Bachman fielded punts without issue, he didn’t offer much as a returner. Among players with at least five punt returns this season, Bachman averaged just 5.2 yards per return, which ranked 31st. At some point, the Rams needed to raise the bar from ‘just fielding punts’. Bachman averaged just 22.9 yards per kick return, ranking 62nd out of 75 qualifying returners.“
A newly added name to the NFL trade deadline rumor mill is the perfect target for the Los Angeles Rams (sports.yahoo)
“So allow me to throw a name out there. New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore makes a lot of sense as a potential addition for the Rams. Los Angeles lost defensive tackle Puna Ford for the rest of the season. Barmore could certainly help the Rams replace some of what they lost in the middle of their defense – and he’s reportedly available.
Why Christian Barmore makes sense for the Los Angeles Rams
Barmore is a disruptive presence up front, and he brings plenty of size to the position. We’ve seen the kind of impact a disruptive defensive interior group is capable of with Seattle’s deep playoff run last year. The Rams have Aaron Donald, Braden Fiske, and Kobie Turner (injured reserve) – but Barmore is built a little differently. At 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, Barmore still has disruptive twitch in his game to complement to others on the Rams’ front.“
Ian Rapoport shares update on Myles Garrett’s outlook for Week 9 (ramswire)
“McVay stopped short of saying Garrett will play against the Washington Commanders on Sunday afternoon, but he isn’t ruling it out, either. On Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network shared an update on Garrett and said that once he gets on the field, “it should all happen quick.”
He added that “this week is in play” for Sunday’s game but the Rams will need to see how Garrett responds to the week of practice.
Myles Garrett is an interesting one,” Rapoport said. “I thought he was coming back last week. Just didn’t get to a point where he could feel comfortable enough on the knee, so it was like, all right, don’t rush it, stretch run, be ready this week. What I don’t know – I was told when he gets on the field for practice that it should all happen quick, so I think this week is in play, but we need to see how he actually responds. I think it’s finally, after like two months, in a pretty good place.”
ESPN analyst lays out hypothetical trade for Rams to acquire Colts WR (ramswire)
“Josh Downs requested a trade from the Colts and could be dealt before next Tuesday’s deadline. ESPN’s Ben Solak predicted some trades that he thinks “might” happen based on fit and logic, not inside information. One of them was the Rams acquiring Downs and a 2027 fifth-round pick from the Colts for a 2028 third-rounder.“
Patriots Quietly Make Move for Ex-Rams Linebacker Before Packers Game (sports.yahoo)
“The Patriots are signing linebacker Elias Neal to their practice squad, less than a week after the Los Angeles Rams released him. The move was reported, by ESPN reporter Mike Reiss, who cited Neal’s agent, Sean Stellato. The Patriots had not officially announced the addition as of Tuesday afternoon.
New England’s linebacker room leans on starters Robert Spillane and Christian Elliss, and Neal arrives with a résumé built almost entirely on special teams.“
Rams Get Matthew Stafford Update Amid ‘Interesting’ Myles Garrett Situation (heavy.com)
“Despite the bottom-line positivity, Rapoport’s update on Stafford adds to the nebulous nature of the situation.
Rams head coach Sean McVay did not provide much clarity following the reports.
“He’s had some soreness there,” McVay told reporters on November 2. “I think he’d be better equipped, once you guys talk to him, to answer that. I can’t attest to stuff that I’m not necessarily aware of.”
Rams boast hidden gem as LA heats up ahead of Commanders matchup (nypost)
“Corum has been an overlooked piece for some time now, but the 25-year-old made sure he was remembered against the Chargers. During the first half, the crosstown rivals both looked willing to give the other a victory.
Then, everything changed for the Rams in the third quarter when Corum’s 23-yard touchdown extended the lead to 17-9. The Michigan product tallied 73 yards on 11 carries against the Chargers and routinely made defenders miss.
While Kyren Williams is the Rams’ primary running back, Corum has looked just as efficient — and at times better. Corum led the team in rushing yards, despite logging five fewer carries than Williams on Sunday.“

Rams cut PR Alex Bachman, place RB on IR and make 3 other roster moves (ramswire)
“Bachman replaced Xavier Smith after he was waived, but he hasn’t exactly been an upgrade as a return specialist. He’s returned nine punts for 47 yards and 13 kickoffs for 298 yards, struggling to make defenders miss and pick up yardage.
To take his place on the active roster, the Rams signed Cam Lampkin from the practice squad. Lampkin has been promoted from the practice squad twice but will now be a member of the 53-man roster. Nyzier Fourqurean was signed back to the practice squad after being released last week and running back Dean Connors was placed on injured reserve.“
Matthew Stafford’s Wife Kelly Demands Answers From NFL Over Rams Situation (si.com)
“Los Angeles visits the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 15, before its Week 11 bye. However, because the Rams host the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday, Nov. 25 — the NFL’s first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game — they’ll get just 10 days between games instead of the usual 14.
Kelly Stafford is Not Happy With the NFL Scheduling
On Tuesday, Kelly took to her Instagram story to call out the league for doing her husband’s team dirty with their bye week scheduling.
“@NFL Just curious to hear the thought process behind making the Rams the only team in the NFL without a true bye week,” Kelly wrote. “Because damn, after 18 years around this league, even I need a week off during the season… and I have never played a single snap.”
