Random Ramsdom: They Wanted To Play In Australia?

According to Kyle Shanahan, the Los Angeles Rams wanted to play in Australia as opposed to playing in L.A. Now, is this a fact? According to Shanahan, it’s a fact. The Rams wanted to play in Australia as opposed to playing a home game in Los Angeles.

Why?

According to the 49ers it’s because “home” games in L.A., are like home games in SF. Games in L.A. are an advantage to San Francisco more than to the Rams.

It’s all quite interesting what Shanahan is calling out the Rams for. Another thing that should be interesting is how the Rams plan to travel to and from Australia. Will it be a short or long trip? My guess is they’ll try to keep it as short as possible, and I think Sean McVay recently hinted at that, but we’re still plenty far away from NFL season, so we’ll see exactly how the game is Australia goes down or…down under (hehe).

Happy Thursday to all! If you are off tomorrow, enjoy your extended weekend. Thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great day!

Kyle Shanahan: Rams lobbied to move home game against 49ers to Australia (nbcsports)

“I’m pretty sure the Rams lobbied for that game,” LaFleur said when the subject of the Australia game came up.

“I know for a fact they did,” Shanahan said. “That’s what’s so bothersome.”

Shanahan joked (we think) that he wants the 49ers’ “home” game in Mexico to have the Rams as the visiting team.

Still, Shanahan understands why the Rams would want to avoid seeing a home game against the 49ers become a home game for the 49ers. (The Chargers were surely thinking about that last year, when a potential Chiefs takeover of SoFi Stadium was moved to Brazil.)“

It sounds like the Rams plan to make their Australia trip a short one (ramswire)

“In five short months, the Los Angeles Rams will depart for Melbourne, Australia, where they will face the San Francisco 49ers in the season opener. The game will take place on Sept. 11 in Australia, but it’ll air live in the U.S. on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 5:35 p.m. PT, due to the 17-hour time difference between Melbourne and L.A.

Under Sean McVay, the Rams have tried to make cross-country trips as painless as possible by arriving the day before the game, even with a three-hour time difference. Traveling that close to the game is not possible, going from Los Angeles to Australia, but the Rams still plan to arrive closer to kickoff than the 49ers.“

Sean McVay Reveals Complex Reason Behind Rams’ Decision to Withdraw Major Rule Change Proposal (sports.yahoo.com)

“However, things got a little tricky when McVay tried to put that idea into words. As part of the NFL Competition Committee, he had a seat at the table but struggled to explain the idea clearly.

“It was really hard the way that we had to write it just because of the semantics of the rules,” Sean McVay said. “So then, when I was explaining it, I did feel that exact way. I’m like, man, if I’m having to feel like I’m putting a Rubik’s Cube together, this is probably too complex. But yes, actually, that’s probably an accurate way to assess it.”

Random Ramsdom Fandom:

“It’s wild that the Rams tried to trade Davante for AJ Brown (that’s what I assume). I can’t imagine what Puka and AJ Brown combo would look like with Stafford. I don’t think there would be enough passes to go around and Brown would go AWOL like he did for the Eagles, but if he behaved, it would have been amazing. But I think that would also mean that Puka might not be extended? Which I would hate.”-CRamsFly
