The Ravens entered the season with major questions at the center position, and injuries quickly morphed the situation into a dire emergency. As opposed to past years, when Eric DeCosta declined to address their offensive line during the season, Baltimore’s general manager is making a splash, trading for two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens from the Eagles.

The Ravens are sending a 2027 5th-round pick and a 2028 2nd-round pick to Philadelphia in exchange for Jurgens and a 2027 7th-round pick. The 27-year-old has been a highly regarded center in the NFL for multiple years and earned a four-year contract extension in 2025 that keeps him under control through the 2029 season.

“We are excited to acquire a two-time Pro Bowl center, Cam Jurgens, from the Eagles in a trade,” DeCosta said in a statement provided to Baltimore Beatdown. “Cam is a player we have long admired going all the way back to the draft process. He’s a young foundational piece along our offensive line – a great scheme and cultural fit who will contribute quickly in Baltimore. We are confident that Cam will significantly impact our team and community.”

Jurgens has struggled in 2026. He was playing left guard following an injury to Landon Dickerson in a struggling offense that does not fit his skill set. He did play one game at center this season where he allowed zero pressures, indicating he could show improvements in Baltimore.

The Ravens are planning on moving Jurgens to his natural position, and hopefully coaching from Dwayne Ledford will help Jurgens get back to his peak. He is an excellent fit to lead Derrick Henry in Declan Doyle’s wide zone scheme. Similar to former Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum, Jurgens will need help in pass protection, but he should not struggle as much as Jovaughn Gwyn. Snapping should not be an issue, either.

Currently, Jurgens is under concussion protocol, so it’s unlikely Ravens fans will see him Sunday as he works back to getting healthy and focuses on learning the offense to debut Week 6 against the Browns.

Jurgens’ contract is a hugely appealing part of this trade for the Ravens. The Eagles already paid out his option bonus this year, so the Ravens will owe him just under $1 million in base salary for the rest of the season. He is set to earn $16 million in fully guaranteed money next year with non-guaranteed compensation of roughly $17 million in 2028 and 2029. At present, his cap hits for 2027 through 2029 are scheduled to be about $4.5 million, $7.5 million, and $11.8 million. Dead money from the options bonus prorations will hit Baltimore’s cap in 2030.
