LeBron James’ signing won’t be the final move of the Sixers’ offseason.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is negotiating a contract buyout with the Grizzlies and “intends to team back up” with James, Chris Haynes reported late Friday night.

Caldwell-Pope had exercised his $21.6 million player option last month. It’s not yet known how the Sixers will create the necessary roster space to add him and James.

The 33-year-old Caldwell-Pope has won NBA championships on the 2019-20 Lakers (with James) and on the 2022-23 Nuggets. He’s a 6-foot-5 shooting guard with a longstanding 3-and-D reputation who averaged 8.4 points, 2.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds for Memphis last year in 21.3 minutes per game. Caldwell-Pope’s 31.6 percent mark from three-point range was his worst since the 2015-16 season.

He underwent season-ending surgery in February to address a right pinkie finger injury. The Grizzlies said at the time that Caldwell-Pope was expected to fully recover and be available for the start of the 2026-27 season.

James and Jaylen Brown have been the Sixers’ summer headliners, but president of basketball operations Mike Gansey has also picked up a variety of role players like forward Dean Wade, combo guard Anfernee Simons and center Ariel Hukporti. The latest is reportedly a familiar face for James.
