The New Orleans Saints have had a number of meetings with 2026 draft prospects and invited some to the facilities. Looking at some of the positions of focus, iOL, WR, RB, and TE have been the main ones, but there has been another position that has gone under the radar. The Saints have been doing some work on the OTs in this class, and the latest prospect that the team is hosting is Maryland OT Alan Herron, per Mike Triplett.

Mickey Loomis being interested in a Senior Bowl prospect is the most obvious draft trend ever, but the position Herron plays is interesting. The Saints still need a long term option at RG and backup behind Erik McCoy is a must get before the season, but tackles has not been a focus of many. Last season, Taliese Fuaga was plagued with injuries and it became a massive issue.

Injuries have been a worrying aspect of Fuaga’s young career, and when he was out, the backups could not hold their own. So, finding a backup could be a focus of this staff, and although that may not end up happening in the draft, striking gold in undrafted free agency could be a life saver during the season.

The other way of looking at this, which would be truly shocking, but might as well mention it, is that Fuaga could be moved to RG. Would I do this? Absolutely not. Fuaga is a great tackle in this league and should nto be moved again. But coming out of college, many believed he could be an excellent guard, and if the Saints find a franchise RT later in the draft, a move could be made. I doubt moving Fuaga is what the Saints are thinking of doing, but there’s still a very very small chance it is.
