In light of veteran long snapper Zach Wood’s calf injury, which is expected to sideline him for about 4-6 weeks, the New Orleans Saints brought in three players for tryouts during Thursday’s practice: Luke Basso, Scott Daly and Niko Lalos.

Per a report from NOF’s Nick Underhill, the Saints have signed Scott Daly to their practice squad.

Of the three players brought in for a tryout, Scott Daly brings the most NFL experience. The former Notre Dame long snapper has appeared in 76 regular-season games, spending time with the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. Daly served as Detroit’s primary long snapper from 2021-23 before handling the duties for Chicago in 2024 and 2025. Most recently, he spent the offseason with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before joining the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad.
