The Steelers made the signing of safety Israel Mukuamu official Thursday morning, releasing cornerback Ahmari Harvey to make room on the team’s offseason roster.

Mukuamu, a former Cowboys defensive back who played under Mike McCarthy in Dallas, came to terms with the Steelers yesterday, his agency announced.

Harvey played college football at Georgia Tech before signing with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in May. After he was waived by Denver, he signed with the Steelers in June. He recorded four interceptions over his collegiate career.

The Steelers have now added two veteran safeties, Mukuamu and Rayshawn Jenkins, to their offseason roster this month. Pittsburgh will see its first preseason action of the year on Aug. 13 against the Green Bay Packers.
