Te Oscar Delp Would Be A Perfect Fit For The Broncos

One prospect who may interest the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft is Georgia tight end Oscar Delp. He is a 6-5, 245-pound prospect who is considered one of the better tight ends in the draft and has loads of untapped potential as a receiver.

Delp was not utilized much in the Bulldogs’ passing game, but when he was, he showed off his athleticism and pass-catching ability. This had many people excited to see how you would test at the NFL Scouting Combine. Unfortunately, it was revealed that he was dealing with a hairline fracture in his foot, and he ended up not testing. Thankfully, Delp was able to participate in the Georgia Pro Day, and he did not disappoint. His workout was compared to Brock Bowers by some scouts, and his draft stock is currently rising quickly.

He spent a total of four seasons at Georgia, and while his receiving numbers do not stand out, he was a key member of their offense due to his blocking ability. Delp played in 55 games and totaled 70 receptions for 854 yards and 9 touchdowns. This past year, he played in 14 games and had 20 receptions for 261 yards and 1 touchdown. Again, the numbers do not blow you away, but the talent is there.

The Broncos re-signed tight ends Adam Trautman, Nate Adkins, and Lucas Krull, but still can upgrade that room. Veteran Evan Engram is entering the final year of his deal, and Adkins and Krull signed one-year vet minimum deals with low guaranteed money. So, I anticipate they will draft a tight end and could have a lot of interest in Georgia tight end, Oscar Delp.

Weaknesses

• Was a low-volume pass catcher in college and needs to prove he can handle a featured role in the NFL
• Will likely need to add some muscle to his frame to hold his own as an in-line blocker
• Arm length is not ideal and gives him a smaller catch radius
• Due to his limited role in the passing game, his route tree will need to be developed

Delp is a fluid athlete with the forward lean, short-area quickness and pure speed to beat linebackers on intermediate routes. His soft hands and smooth catch skills show up on the move, though his short arms and inconsistent finish through contact limit his reliability. He has enough toughness and technique to help in the run game as he improves his strength. Delp projects as a Day 3 prospect with three-down potential and untapped upside as a pass catcher.

Should the Broncos draft TE Oscar Delp in the 2nd round of the 2026 NFL Draft?

If he is available, most definitely.

Unfortunately, I do not think he will be available for the Broncos. He is a 6-5, 245-pound tight end with 4.48 speed and can put his hand in the dirt and hold his own as a blocker. Tight ends with that sort of skill set do not last long in the NFL Draft.

Sure, he lacks the production you look for in a prospect, but the talent is there, and when used in the passing game, he flashed a ton of potential. That’s what you’re betting on here with Delp. You’re betting on that untapped potential as a pass catcher and his elite athleticism, and I think he’ll be off the board before the Broncos pick in the 2nd round.

Now, if I am wrong, the Broncos should jump all over Delp. He is exactly the type of tight end they need. Someone who can play in-line but also be a weapon in the pass game. Just imagine lining him up in a heavy package, play action, and Nix hitting him in stride on a crossing route and taking off. He won’t be a “tell” and would allow the Broncos to utilize the play-action game a bit more in heavy packages while also keeping him in as a blocker when they want to run it.

He’s one of my top targets for the Broncos with their second-round pick, and I just hope Delp is there for them to select.
