The Chicago Bears are dominating the NFL, and the rest of the league is finally starting to notice.

Maybe it’s because so many people hate Caleb Williams and they won’t believe it. Maybe it’s because the Bears have been so bad for so long, it’s hard to believe this is actually them. Or maybe it’s that Caleb Williams was hurt and the Bears went 2-2 in the 4 games he missed all or part of the game.

Whatever the reason, the way the Bears have played the last three games leaves you with only one logical conclusion: The Chicago Bears are the best team in the NFL.

These stats speak for themselves:

Since Caleb Williams has returned from injury, the Chicago Bears have led for 158:33 of 180 minutes.

They have only been tied at 0-0.

They have never trailed.

The Bears are dominating right now. And they aren’t dominating the Tennessee Titans and the Arizona Cardinals. In the last two weeks, the Bears did this against the two teams that met in the Super Bowl just nine months ago.

The way this team is playing, and with the addition of Jeffery Simmons, something has happened with my expectations that I haven’t had since I was a child. Never in my adult life have I truly believed the Bears can win the Super Bowl. Maybe that makes me overly critical. Maybe that just makes me a realist, but let me try to explain.

To me, there are two types of good teams: playoff contenders and Super Bowl contenders. The Bears have been playoff contenders on more than one occasion. In 2018, you knew they were headed for the playoffs. During the Lovie years, you knew the Bears were good enough to play additional football in January. But did you ever truly believe they were going to win a Super Bowl? Did you truly believe it? Or did you just hope they could?

In 2006, I never truly believed they could beat the Colts. How was Rex Grossman going to beat Peyton Manning? In 2018, if the Bears did, in fact, take down Sean McVay again and reach the Super Bowl? Did we really think Matt Nagy and Mitch Trubisky could outduel Bill Belichick and Tom Brady?

You could hope that things would align just perfectly and somehow, someway, the Bears could pull out a miracle win and bring home a title, but did you truly believe they were a Super Bowl contender?

The last time I felt this way was in 1987. The Bears still had Jim McMahon. Walter Payton was still on the roster. The ‘85 defense was still largely intact. This was the last time I felt this way. I was 10. Did I actually know what I was watching? No, of course not. I was a hopeful child who believed my team could win. Why not? They won just two years before; why couldn’t they do it again? I didn’t understand that Payton was on his last legs. I didn’t understand that McMahon had no chance of staying healthy. I didn’t understand how much Wilber Marshall would be missed and that other key pieces on the defense were aging. I didn’t understand the context. Now I do.

I’ve never had this belief and this level of confidence in this team in my adult life. The Bears have the coach. They have the quarterback. They have the offensive line. They have the weapons. They have the defense. The Bears have everything they need to win it all.

The team isn’t perfect. If they can land Khalil Mack and make this defensive line even stronger, they should. If they can land a CB and beef up their secondary, it’s a must. Spend what you have to do to make this happen. Draft picks are for teams that aren’t drafting with the last spot in each round, and that’s where the Bears are headed if they keep this up.

This Chicago Bears team can win the Super Bowl. That should be the expectation. If the Bears aren’t playing a game in Los Angeles on February 14th, I’m going to be disappointed.

That’s an awesome feeling to have on November 3rd.

Is there a team you are afraid of in the NFL? The only team that should give you any concern in the NFC is the SF 49ers. In the AFC, it’s the Buffalo Bills. Are you afraid of the Kansas City Chiefs? I’m not. Right now, the Bears have a more talented roster. They have the better coach. They have the better quarterback (Yes, I know what I said).

This offense is the best in the NFL. When it’s rolling, no defense in the league can stop it. Ask the Seahawks; they stop everyone and still gave up 34 points. This defense, with Jeffery Simmons, is a whole new ballgame. As we talked about last week, Simmons is so good, he makes everyone around him better. We saw that already in his first game. Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, Devin Bush- they all looked fantastic.

The Chicago Bears have arrived. There’s no team in the league better than this one. You can have concerns about the secondary; you can have concerns about their depth; you can have concerns. You should have concerns. No team in the league is perfect. But despite any of those concerns, one thing is clear:

The best team in the NFL resides in Chicago.
