The Falcoholic Reacts: Playing It Safe At Inside Linebacker
Who plays alongside Divine Deablo is one of the several positional battles this summer. With plenty to be decided across the defensive line, the linebacker to complement one of Atlanta’s most valuable defensive players will play a pivotal role in keeping a defense filled with uncertainty afloat. Three players have emerged as options, though only two are likely viewed as credible potential starters.
Harold Perkins Jr. has plenty of intriguing attributes, but he’s still very raw and could use a year learning from the sidelines while contributing on special teams. That leaves the other rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels to compete with Christian Harris for the starting role. Daniels has been one of the training camp standouts. Harris possesses valuable experience despite his limitations as a three-down linebacker. That gives him the slight edge over the 2026 fourth-round pick.
It wouldn’t be a total surprise if Daniels earns his place in the starting lineup. His reading of the game, combined with his physical traits, makes him someone who can find himself playing 55-60 snaps a game at some point in 2026. For now, Harris’ downhill attacking ability should mesh with Deablo’s dynamic skill set to ensure the linebacker core doesn’t take much of a step back without Kaden Elliss.
