The Washington Wizards are 4-3 to start the 2026-27 NBA season, which is a great thing. And that has also helped them in the NBA Power Rankings where they are no longer simply at the bottom of the totem pole.

On ESPN, they are ranked No. 16. Sure, it’s the best team of the lower tier group. But last year, the Wizards were consistently in the bottom five, so we’ll take the little victories. Here’s the blurb from Zach Kram:

The ADs look great.Anthony Davis has been Washington’s best player, averaging 23.0 points and 9.1 rebounds, and AJ Dybantsa — whose two initials are the same as the veteran big man’s — has averaged 19 points on 50% shooting in his first three games in the NBA. That’s everything Washington could have wanted from the two No. 1 picks so far.

I agree, both AD’s are great. Hopefully they lead Washington to at least a first round playoff spot. Anyway, how much are you reading into power rankings? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
