Two members of the New York Jets will be on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, and one will be on the non-football injury (NFI) list as training camp begins per Zack Rosenblatt.

DT T'Vondre Sweat is going on the NFI list to start training camp with a hamstring injury. It's not considered serious, per source.

WR Tim Patrick and EDGE Tyler Baron will be placed on the PUP list at the start of camp as well. Patrick isn't expected to be out long, per…

As is the case each year, it’s important to know what these lists are and what they are not.

Being on the PUP list simply means that a player is recovering from an injury that will keep him out of the first practice of training camp. It doesn’t necessarily mean the injury is serious. A player can come off the PUP list in training camp as soon as he is healthy enough to start practicing. It could even happen on day two.

The player could suffer the exact same injury during the first practice, and he wouldn’t be on an injury list. The list tells us more about the timing of an injury than the recovery.

The NFI list is the same. It is for players whose injury did not come participating in an NFL game or practice.

So when you see these injuries described as “not serious” you should believe it.
