Three Rivers Report: Drew Allar Steals The Show Against Green Bay

Thursday was an interesting situation for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team has four quarterbacks on the 90-man roster and Aaron Rodgers didn’t play. Mason Rudolph is the clear backup, but what about the situation between rookies Drew Allar and Will Howard? Most teams keep three quarterbacks and the Steelers could have one of their quarterbacks ticketed for the practice squad, but thats a risk with teams able to poach players.

Allar was the better of the two rookies with three total touchdowns. On 13 attempts, Allar completed ten passes for 153 yards, 11.8 YPA, two touchdown passes, and a 154.8 QB rating. The former Penn State quarterback added a rushing touchdown to complete an overall complete performance.

Is Allar the future? It’s hard to say after a single preseason game, but it is hard to not be impressed with Allar.
