Titans To Hire Ex-giants Coach Brian Daboll As Offensive Coordinator

The Tennessee Titans now have their answer as to who will guide quarterback Cam Ward in a crucial Year 2 for the No. 1 overall draft pick.

After hiring Robert Saleh as their new head coach last week, the Titans are set to bring aboard former New York Giants coach Brian Daboll, according to multiple reports. The deal is contingent on him not landing the Las Vegas Raiders' head coaching position, which he interviewed for on Monday, Jan. 26.

Daboll, 50, had been a contender for the Buffalo Bills' top job, which earlier on Tuesday, Jan. 27, went to Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

Daboll was fired by the Giants on Nov. 10 after the team dropped to 2-8 in his fourth season. He posted a 20-40-1 record overall.

After working with Josh Allen in Buffalo and Jaxson Dart in New York, Daboll now will be charged with overseeing the development of another dynamic young passer in Ward. In his rookie season, the top pick threw for 3,169 yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also tied for the NFL lead with 55 sacks taken, and an offense that ranked 30th in scoring and 31st in total yards struggled to gain traction amid a shortage of skill-position support.

More significant changes could be coming to the roster, however. The Titans are projected to have $93.5 million in cap space, according to Over the Cap, more than any other team.
