The Dallas Cowboys' defense is getting another veteran boost.

The Cowboys reached a deal to sign linebacker Von Miller, the team announced on Sunday night. Specifics of the deal are not yet known, though Miller confirmed the move on social media himself.

Miller, 37, has spent 14 seasons playing throughout the league. He got his start with the Denver Broncos, where he shined and helped lead the franchise to a Super Bowl win in the 2015 season. He was the game's MVP after their win over the Carolina Panthers, and then picked up a second ring with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.

Miller played last season in Washington and racked up 26 tackles and nine sacks — which was his best output since the 2021 campaign — with the Commanders. He signed a one-year deal to join the franchise last offseason after a tumultuous split with the Buffalo Bills, and has been a free agent all summer.

Miller has plenty of Texas ties. He is from DeSoto, a suburb of Dallas, and played in college at Texas A&M before the Broncos selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in 2011. He was the league's Defensive Rookie of the Year, and has earned eight Pro Bowl nods and three first team All-Pro selections throughout his career.

Though Miller undoubtedly isn't the same dominant defender he once was, the Cowboys are clearly hoping he is still capable of holding things down on defense for them this season. Miller is still the league's active sacks leader with 138.5 throughout his career, and he's joining a Cowboys defense that struggled in that department last season, with just 35.

The Cowboys went just 7-9-1 and missed the playoffs last season, the first under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer. They'll open the regular season against the New York Giants on Sept. 13.
