Free agency has been going on since the NFL’s legal tampering period started on Monday at noon. We’re now in the second wave of free agency, with a lot of the big contracts already given out this week. The Washington Commanders signed eleven players from other teams through yesterday, including two wide receiver signings yesterday. Dyami Brown makes his return to Washington after a year in Jacksonville, and Van Jefferson was added for more depth. The Commanders brought another offensive lineman back, re-signing starting LG Chris Paul for one year. He was expected to get more interest in free agency, but he is a welcome return for Washington.

The new league year started on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. The Commanders now have the second-most available cap space in the NFL($69.2 million), but that number will continue to go down as they continue to add players, and contracts are finalized and entered into the system. They will need to continue signing players at various salary/skill levels, along with their six draft picks for April’s draft.

Which position(s) does Washington need more depth or starters at?

When the 49ers release Brandon Aiyuk and he signs with the Commanders, the expectation it will be a one-year deal. Washington isn’t putting their WR2 eggs in his basket though. It’s a move that will come with risk.

— Jonathan Jones (@jjones9) March 11, 2026

Wash knows how much Aiyuk wants to play here and with good friend Jayden Daniels. Aiyuk Has been working out. Peters of course was in SF. So they have insight into Aiyuk. Ideally under 10 mil on the 1 year. We’ll see. https://t.co/4cfxlQAzg8
