The Washington Commanders announced a few roster moves before they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football tomorrow night.

DT Jer’Zhan Newton (pectoral) had his 21-day practice window opened this week, but he won’t be activated and has been downgraded to out for the Eagles game.

The Commanders ruled out DT Daron Payne yesterday after he suffered a Jones fracture at practice. That’s a big blow to Washington’s defensive line, and will be an issue this week with Javon Kinlaw (knee) already ruled out.

The Commanders are only elevating one player for Monday’s primetime home division game. DT Byron Cowart gets the call up to add some depth to a defensive line that will be missing two starters. Cowart is an 8-year veteran.

The Commanders released their injury report on Friday and only had Kinlaw ruled out. Payne was added to that list after the severity of the injury was known. He was one of four players listed as questionable for tomorrrow night’s game.

Should the Commanders have elevated different players? If so, let us know who that should’ve been in the article comments below:
