It’s been a while, but the New England Patriots finally have a top 10 wide receiver again.

ESPN released its top 10 wide receivers in the NFL ranking on Wednesday. The list is compiled using votes from league execs, scouts and coaches.

A.J. Brown, who the Patriots acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles on June 1 in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick, made the list at No. 9, just ahead of Davante Adams.

“He changes the coverages people play, everything will be rolled his way, and it will lighten the box for Josh [McDaniels] to really get the run game going,” a coordinator told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “He gives them run-after-catch explosion and isolation down the field on 50-50 plays that they didn’t have.”

Brown ranked No. 5 on last year’s ESPN ranking.

He tallied 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games for the Eagles last season. Brown also ranked No. 6 on ESPN’s “Receiver Scores” with a 76/100 rating.

The 29-year-old veteran has tallied at least 1,000 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in each of the last four years. Last season, Stefon Diggs became the first Patriots wideout since Julian Edelman in 2019 to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark.

The addition of Brown gives Patriots quarterback Drake Maye a trusted target all over the field, including on deep passes, tight windows and red zone opportunities. Maye was No. 8 on ESPN’s ranking of the top 10 quarterbacks earlier this week.

The Patriots have had some lackluster wide receiver groups in recent years, but after trading for Brown and signing Romeo Doubs in free agency, New England actually has a lot of talent and depth at the position heading into the 2026 season.
