Where Kings Will Pick In Upcoming 2026 Nba Draft After Falling In Lottery
Where Kings will pick in upcoming 2026 NBA Draft after falling in lottery originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Even after one of the worst seasons in franchise history, the Kings still can’t catch a break. Sacramento, which entered the day slotted to pick fifth in next month’s 2026 NBA Draft, fell to the No. 7 selection.
The Kings will receive the 7th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Sacramento lost the tiebreaker with the Utah Jazz last month after the two teams finished the 2025-26 NBA season with identical records. Still, both the Kings and Jazz retained an 11.5-percent chance at landing the No. 1 overall pick and a 45.2-percent chance at a top-four selection.
But the odds weren’t in the Kings’ favor.
The NBA Draft Lottery determines the top four picks for non-playoff teams using a weighted, random drawing of 14 ping-pong balls. The 14 teams that missed the playoffs are assigned combinations based on their records (worst record gets best odds), with the top four spots drawn, and the remaining teams (5-14) ordered by reverse win percentage
Luckily for Sacramento, this draft class has no shortage of high-impact talent — even as “far” as through the No. 10 pick.
While players such as AJ Dybansta, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer likely will be off the board by then, Scott Perry and Co. still can find a high-end talent that immediately will bolster Sacramento’s roster.
