Who Was The Best Broncos’ Linebacker Over The Last 20 Years?
There have been some pretty dang good linebackers for the Denver Broncos over the last 20 years. You could say guys like DJ Williams or Danny Trevathan or Wesley Woodyard or even Alex Singleton. There is, of course, Brandon Marshall.
Surely, you wouldn’t include Alexander Johnson on that short list, right? Well, don’t tell that to Pro Football Focus. They ranked Alexander Johnson has the single best linebacker the Broncos have had over the last two decades. As laughable as that is, they don’t even explain their reasoning in the Broncos’ best players from each position during that span.
In our recent Dublin to Denver podcast, they hit that topic hard. Frankly, big hat tip to them for even catching this ranking as I missed it.
Looking at the rest of the PFF list for Denver, I couldn’t disagree hard on any other position selected. All of those other players were dang good in Denver. The Alexander Johnson pick above Marshall and the rest is the biggest head scratcher and points to how flawed the PFF grading system is. Is it fun to share at times? Sure. It is by no means indicative of reality, however.
