The wait continues for Steve Kerr to make an official decision regarding his future with the Warriors.

Draymond Green, a player Kerr has won four NBA championships with, has expressed why he believes the 60-year-old coach eventually will choose to return to Golden State.

“I think and hope he’s coming back,” Green said Monday on ESPN’s “Inside the NBA.” “I don’t know more than anyone else in the world knows outside of what I do know is that he wants to coach. And so, if he wants to coach, I think he comes back.”

The four-time NBA champion coach reportedly met with Warriors owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy on April 27, but the two sides never came to a resolution, ESPN’s Shams Charania, Anthony Slater and Ramona Shelburne reported in a joint column, citing sources.

Kerr is expected to finalize his decision soon, with both the coach and the team continuing their discussions behind closed doors.

When asked about his recent comments about Kerr hindering the trajectory of his NBA career, Green doubled down on his statements once again.

“People took a four-minute clip of me saying how great this guy has been to my career, how much he’s taught me about winning, where I wouldn’t be without him, and all these things,” Green stated on “Inside the NBA.”

“They took a four-minute clip, and they took 15 seconds of it where I said, you know, I think from an offensive standpoint, he hindered me. I stand by that. That’s my truth.”

However, Green reiterated how much he appreciates having Kerr as his coach.

“With me expressing my one gripe, make no mistake about it,” Green added. “I also said how much of a better man he’s made me. I spoke on all of those things, and we take that one clip.”

Kerr joined a rising Warriors team in 2014 and led Golden State in 2015 to its first championship since 1975. With a core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Green, Kerr and the Warriors won three more NBA titles in 2017, 2018 and 2022.

The winningest coach in Warriors franchise history also won the NBA Coach of the Year award during the 2016-17 season after Golden State’s record-breaking 73-9 regular-season record.

It remains uncertain if Kerr will stay as the Warriors’ coach or if he chooses to venture out somewhere else, but regardless of his decision, he has left a legacy in Golden State that will send him to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame whenever his career officially comes to an end.
