Will Jeremy Crawshaw Improve In 2026?

The name Jeremy Crawshaw raised some eyebrows in the 2025 NFL draft in round 6 when the Denver Broncos selected him. Denver had just signed a veteran punter in the offseason, Matt Haack.

His path to the roster was instantly cleared as the Broncos released Haack before the season started, pushing all their chips in on developing young Crawshaw.

Like most rookies, his first season was hit and miss, with encouraging improvements in his play toward the back half of the season.  Crawshaw showed off his leg plenty and had some surprisingly well-placed punts from time to time. The highlight of his year had to be his 76-yard punt against the Houston Texans.

2026 outlook with the Broncos

The expectation is that we see a solid step forward in Crawshaw’s play from last season. He’s a young player with a big leg who is in the perfect situation in which to perfect his craft.

One of the most encouraging things to me was his work as a holder for the team. He showed consistency all season, getting the ball down for Wil Lutz. Holding for the kicking game is an often-overlooked role similar to blocking on the offensive line: you only notice it when it goes horribly wrong.

I think we could actually see an uptick in his punts getting downed inside the 10. He had some slightly off placements on a good amount of punts that ended up being touchbacks. Experience and some coaching should turn some of those into big special teams plays in 2026.

Final Word

Jeremy Crawshaw has this job on lock. He’s got a big-time NFL leg and has a great opportunity to climb the punting leaderboards after a mediocre season due to what looked to my eyes to be some rookie consistency issues.

The Broncos signed Crawshaw to be a long-term starter for the team, and his position on the roster is quite secure. I think he’s a big part of this team’s ability to win games in both the kicking game and as a punter.
