Will Levis Signs With New York Jets Practice Squad

The wait for Will Levis is finally over. He has signed with the New York Jets practice squad, per Tom Pelissero:

Former Titans QB Will Levis is signing with the Jets practice squad, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports.

Levis started 21 games for Tennessee before missing last season with a shoulder injury. He takes the place of Bailey Zappe, who’s being released. pic.twitter.com/XqmkRIJIdn

While I don’t think Levis has what it takes to be a starter in the NFL, I am surprised that it took him this long to get a job. His physical tools are off the charts. He is a big, physical player with a huge arm. The biggest question for him is whether or not he has what it takes between the ears to play the position.

It was just two years ago that the Tennessee Titans anointed Levis their starter and brought in Brian Callahan to develop him into a quality NFL QB. Of course, that took just two weeks to go off the rails in spectacular fashion (ironically against the Jets). The Titans drafted Cam Ward with the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to replace Levis.

Levis replaces Bailey Zappe as the Jets’ practice squad QB. Geno Smith serves as the Jets’ starting QB and is backed up by rookie Cade Klubnik. The Jets will most likely be in the quarterback market in the 2027 NFL Draft.
