Will The Raiders Trade Maxx Crosby? Latest Rumors Around Vegas Star
The autumn wind is a Raider. Will trade winds also be a Raider during the 2026 NFL offseason?
That remains to be seen, but the forecast is currently cloudy around Maxx Crosby. No one knows what the future holds for the star pass-rusher, who is certainly no stranger to trade rumors in recent years.
Frustration only continued to grow at the end of the 2025 season, when the Raiders elected to shut down Crosby for the final two games. The team noted that the decision was because of a knee injury, but it certainly didn't hurt that Crosby's absence would help Vegas' pursuit of the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Brock Bowers and Jeremy Chinn were also shut down for the season that same week.
"I don't give a (expletive) about the pick, I don't play for that," Crosby said after the decision in December. "That's not my job. My job is to be the best defensive end in the world, and that's what I focus on every day."
Crosby opted to leave the Raiders' facility, sparking trade rumors again.
Now it's about playing the waiting game for the star that signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension last offseason. Here's what to know about the Raiders' willingness to trade Crosby.
Will the Raiders trade Maxx Crosby?
The Raiders have not indicated whether they will trade Crosby.
There have been varying reports surrounding the possibility and none of them have done anything to paint a clearer picture. It was first reported that Crosby was done with the Raiders by Fox Sports' Jay Glazer on Feb. 4. Then it was reported by NFL Media's Ian Rapoport on Feb. 8 that Crosby hasn't requested a trade.
Then ESPN's Adam Schefter joined the party during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Feb. 9, sharing more details about the Crosby situation.
"I think there's a feeling around the league that Maxx Crosby would like to be traded," Schefter said. The Raiders prefer not to trade him."
Schefter added that it would take a Micah Parsons-type package for the Raiders to consider making the move. For reference, the Green Bay Packers parted with two first-round picks and DT Kenny Clark to acquire Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys last offseason.
The Raiders currently have about $91.5 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap, but they project about $77 million in effective cap space after signing at least 51 players and their rookie class.
Vegas notably has the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, where they are expected to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. And, for the second time in as many seasons, the Raiders will have a new head coach as well.
Fresh off winning Super Bowl 60 as the Seattle Seahawks' offensive coordinator, the Raiders hired Klint Kubiak to lead the team into a new era. He spoke about Crosby during his introductory press conference on Feb. 10.
“I got to a cup of coffee with Maxx this morning," Kubiak said, via ESPN's Ryan McFadden. "Love talking with him. And look forward to continuing those conversations. He was the first one in here working out. So that fired me up.”
Time will tell if all those changes are enough to restore the 28-year-old's faith in the organization.
Maxx Crosby contract
Crosby is under contract through the 2029 season after signing a three-year, $106.5 million extension on March 5, 2024.
Despite that contract, the Raiders can trade the star without significant cap ramifications. Vegas would have $5.1 million in dead cap, but save nearly $30.7 million regardless of when Crosby is traded.
