The booking window for a spring break trip is crucial to help keep costs down, so experts advise even in the post-holiday haze that travelers look for deals now to save on everything from flights to hotels.

Best windows to book spring break travel

Spring break 2026 will fall in late March or early April, depending on local school districts. If travelers are able, experts recommend taking a trip outside of those windows, as it will likely be more affordable then.

According to The Points Guy experts, the best time to book spring break travel is in the next month.

People looking to plan an international flight -- such as to the Caribbean -- should look at buying airfare now, per TPG.

For domestic flights to destinations like Florida, California or Arizona, they advise booking by the end of January or in early February.

Midweek departures can sometimes be a good way to save big, specifically Monday through Wednesday, with more travelers opting for weekend travel.

Spring break travel deals to save on airfare

Roundtrip airfare deals like Los Angeles to Honolulu are currently as low as $265 on American Airlines, which is nearly 61% off for that ticket, according to TPG.

International highlights found by TPG include Washington, D.C., to Milan, Italy, for as low as $410 roundtrip, which is nearly 56% off.

British Airways recently announced discounted flights and vacation packages to the U.K. and Europe for its New Year Sale, running now through Jan. 22.

Some of the limited-time savings include round-trip World Traveller Plus (premium economy) flights from New York to London for $1,283 and World Traveller (economy) flights from Los Angeles to Rome for as low as $463.

The carrier offers nonstop flights to top-searched destinations such as Rome, Paris, and Madrid from 27 U.S. cities, including St. Louis, Missouri, beginning in April, which are now on sale.

Vacation packages for spring break

Packages can present a great opportunity for savings for families and groups.

Everything from booking sites like Expedia and Priceline to full-service flight and accommodations through Delta Vacations Packages or Hyatt Vacation Club offer time specific deals for seasonal getaways.

For example, a six-night package to the Dominican Republic in a beachfront one bedroom with sofa bed for a family of four, including airfare from Newark, New Jersey, comes out to $2,166.
