The Ultimate Mercedes G-wagen Is Rarer Than A Mclaren W1

A new Mercedes-Benz G-Class Cabrio is just around the corner, but for as special as it may be, it won’t be able to hold a candle to the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet from almost a decade ago. This V12-powered beast is the epitome of excess, and one has just hit the market.

The G650 Landaulet followed in the footsteps of the wild G63 AMG 6×6, but instead of adding a third axle, it focused on luxury and an open-top driving experience. Only 99 were built, making them incredibly rare in the used market. By comparison, McLaren plans to build 399 examples of the W1.

This G650 Landaulet is finished in Designo Mystic White, and it looks perfect for owners to be chauffeured around in while sitting in the back, overlooking every other car on the road. For whatever reason, the original owner doesn’t appear to have done a lot of driving, as evidenced by the mileage of this G-Wagen: just 124 miles (200 km).

Contrasting the white paint is a beige folding soft top. Inside, this G650 features a two-tone beige and black Nappa leather upholstery, loads of AMG carbon fiber pieces, velour floor mats, and the comfort seat package.

The highlight of the Landaulet is the second row. Back there you’ll find a pair of captain’s chairs with reclining and massaging functions. Although a high-end Maybach S-Class is even more luxurious, no S-Class provides passengers with a similar open-top experience.

For any owner brave enough to take the G650 off-roading, it has the goods to perform. Like the G63 6×6 and the G500 4×4², it features portal axles and three locking differentials. The 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 also delivers 621 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm), probably enough for one of these behemoths to spin the Earth on its axis at the slightest touch of the throttle.
