Mclaren’s Next Supercar Will Pack A Bigger Punch Than The 750s For Less Money

It seemed as though McLaren was launching an exciting new model every six months a few years ago. Now things have changed, and if you count out the W1, the British brand has been pretty quiet recently. Things are set to get exciting again, with a new supercar on the agenda.

McLaren, which is now owned by Abu Dhabi’s CYVN Holdings and is fresh off its merger with British EV startup Forseven, recently held a meeting with its dealers and confirmed several new models to launch through 2028. The new models include a mid-engined hybrid supercar to slot between the Artura and 750S.

The upcoming McLaren, currently known as the P34, will receive a newly developed twin-turbocharged hybrid V6 engine. Speaking to Auto News, an unnamed McLaren retailer said it will offer around 800 lb-ft of torque, although they didn’t mention a horsepower figure. By comparison, the Artura delivers 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque from its hybridized V6, while the 750S’ 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pumps out 590 lb-ft (800 Nm).

While it will be punchier than the 750S, the P34 will reportedly be cheaper. The retailer said the P34 will be priced from roughly $313,000, or about $60,000 more than the Artura and about $45,000 less than the 750S.

Inspired By The F1

The retailer added that “the P34 pays homage to McLaren’s racing heritage” and will feature a design inspired by the iconic F1. Other features, none of which are surprising, will include a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment screen, and a tempered-glass engine cover.

It’s not just a new supercar McLaren fans should get excited about. The company is also reportedly working on a new front-engined grand tourer tipped to take the surprising shape of a sedan, rather than an SUV. In addition, several heritage-inspired supercars are on the agenda, following the much-praised new McL 6GT.
