1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-window Coupe L76 327/340 4-speed
This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette split-window coupe was first sold at Friendly Chevrolet of Dallas, Texas, and is powered by a 327ci L76 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The selling dealer tells us that they acquired it from an owner of 26 years in 2024, and it was subsequently refinished in silver. Features include Western Wheel 15″ turbine-style wheels with three-eared knock-off spinners, a Positraction differential, a dark blue interior, an AM radio, and concealed headlights. This C2 split-window coupe is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a Friendly Chevrolet business card, and a clean Texas title.
The fiberglass body was finished at the factory in Sebring Silver (941). It was refinished in 2025 with a base coat and clear coat, per the selling dealer, with the exception of the door jambs, as the doors were not removed. Features include flip-up headlamps, fender vents, quad tail lamps, chrome bumperettes, and dual exhaust tips that exit through the rear valance.
Western Wheel 15″ turbine-style wheels wear three-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/75 Hankook Kinergy ST tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.
The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in dark blue vinyl as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a heater, an AM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 42k miles, approximately 11 of which were added under current ownership.
The 327ci L76 V8 was equipped from the factory with a single four-barrel carburetor and a high-lift camshaft for a factory rating of 340 horsepower. It was rebuilt under previous ownership.
The engine stamping includes sequence 3110508, which matches the last six digits of the vehicle’s serial number. The RE suffix corresponds with a 340-horsepower, 327ci V8 for use with a manual transmission.
The four-speed manual transmission was rebuilt under current ownership. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3.70:1 Positraction differential. The chassis was dry-ice cleaned.
