Centre Cracks Down On Loan App Fraud, Google Removes 6 Malicious Apps
The Home Ministry has stepped up its crackdown on malicious loan apps, with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) directing Google to remove six apps from the Play Store.
The apps were flagged over alleged user-data harvesting and exorbitant charges. I4C also raised concerns over Google's advertising ecosystem being used to promote the applications. Google subsequently removed the flagged apps within the specified timeframe.
