Flipkart-backed Neuropixel.ai Shuts Operations Amid Financial Strain
NeuroPixel.AI, a Bengaluru-based AI startup, has shut down its operations after around six years, according to a LinkedIn post by its cofounder and CEO Arvind Venugopal Nair.
The startup cited limited business penetration and rising competition from large tech players as key reasons for the closure. Nair added that the launch of advanced image generation models by global companies further intensified competition.
Founded in 2020 by Nair and Amritendu Mukherjee, NeuroPixel.AI developed AI-led solutions for the fashion ecommerce sector, including virtual try-ons, synthetic model generation, and cataloguing tools.
According to Nair, the company’s technology delivered comparable output quality at lower costs but struggled to scale due to distribution challenges. It also faced financial pressure after losing a major client, with dues remaining unpaid for over six months.
The startup had worked with brands such as Myntra, Fabindia, Van Heusen, and Decathlon.
While NeuroPixel.AI plans to explore monetisation of its technology stack, its core service operations are being shut down.
The company had raised around $1.2 million from investors, including Flipkart Ventures, Inflection Point Ventures, Entrepreneur First, Huddle, and Dexter Ventures.
As per data compiled by Entrackr, the first quarter of 2026 also witnessed three shutdowns, including AI fashion stylist platform Alle, quick home services startup Pync, and insurtech startup Covrzy.
