Huawei's Celia Can Now Shop Every Category On Taobao Instant Commerce By Voice

Huawei has upgraded the Taobao Instant Commerce agent inside its Celia assistant so that users can now search for, choose and order products in every category by voice, IT Home reported on November 2. The agent previously handled one-sentence food delivery orders; it now extends to consumer electronics, flowers, fresh groceries, skincare and other retail goods, with delivery to the user's door.

The feature requires the latest versions of HarmonyOS and Celia. Once updated, users can state a need in a single sentence, such as sending flowers to someone, buying gloves for a cold business trip or picking up a moisturizer, and Celia searches Taobao Instant Commerce, recommends items and takes the user to checkout. Huawei says the upgrade is meant to cover seasonal demand in autumn and winter, from gifts and outdoor gear to family and household items.

The upgrade also brings Celia's companion AI into the shopping flow. On Huawei's wide-format foldable and bar-style phones, a user who is watching a video can call up Celia without leaving the page and ask it to buy the item on screen. In the example given, a viewer watching a food recommendation video can say they want the same dish, and Celia identifies the product and opens the matching Taobao Instant Commerce listing. The user then selects the item, confirms the address and pays.

Celia is now connected to more than 2,000 HarmonyOS agents and more than 500 curated partner Skills, according to the report. The Taobao Instant Commerce integration is one of the most direct examples of the agent-to-agent approach Huawei has been building into HarmonyOS, where the system assistant hands a task to a third-party service agent instead of the user opening the app.

The move follows other recent Celia updates, including proactive suggestions across more than 100 apps and a link with WeChat that lets Celia send voice messages and place calls.
