I Bet On You
This isn’t my normal message. Prepare your heart, friend.
Every week I write you a note with business insights, marketing advice, and branding tips.
I love it (I really do!), but lately I’ve been so frustrated with what I’m seeing.
(I’m actually pissed off, but since my mom will read this note, I’ll keep it family friendly.)
I’m so sick and tired of seeing women:
- Ask for permission.
- Talk themselves down (or worse: out).
- Wait.
- (For WHAT exactly, who knows? The “perfect” timing?)
- Play it safe.
And here’s the ironic part: I WAS THAT WOMAN.
For years I asked (and waited) for permission, playing it safe, and talked myself out of betting on myself.
It wasn’t until 2007 that I made my first solo decision, for me: I quit law school.
2010: I created my first digital product to sell online.
2016: I sold my first digital course.
2017-2026: I created a membership, I created more courses, I created a tech company, I created a holding company, I created a business coaching team.
Did you see that pattern?
The faster I bet on myself (and stopped asking for permission, waiting, or doubting), the faster I got results.
So forgive me FOR GETTING MY PANTIES IN A KNOT when I see other women holding themselves back.
It pains me.
If you don’t allow yourself, advocate for yourself, or demand what you need, it will never happen.
You will never get the chance to get what you want.
Your dream life. Family vacations (upgrade your tickets to Lightning Lane at Disneyland, baby!). Choosing the best school for your kids. Donating to charity. Buying a home.
None of that will happen if you don’t fight for YOU.
And here’s the hardest part: It will be hard.
You will doubt yourself (and so will others). You will want to quit (and others will want the same). You will get frustrated (other will too).
But you must not stop.
You will learn to trust yourself, but you—only YOU—need to take the first step.
Ask for their help (not permission). Talk yourself up (not waiting for others to do it for you). Stop waiting (you’ve waited too long already).
Forgive me, if I offended you.
But, you’re welcome if this was what you needed to hear.
I Bet on You,
j*
