The murder of Jonathan “Honas” Meléndez, keyboardist and founder of Camilo Séptimo, his pregnant wife, his three-year-old daughter, and a domestic worker continues to reveal new details. The investigation points to Diego Sebastián “N”, the musician’s business partner, while reports shared by journalist Carlos Jiménez indicate that the possible motive shifted from a 300,000-peso loan to a dispute involving dollars and an account containing approximately 30 million pesos in bitcoin.

The Jonathan Meléndez case began on the afternoon of September 1, 2026, inside a penthouse in Zona Esmeralda, Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico. Hours later, four people had been killed and two men were being sought for their alleged involvement.

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) later arrested Diego Sebastián “N” and Gerardo “N”. The former had a business relationship with Meléndez and allegedly took advantage of that trust to enter the residence.

As the investigation has progressed, new details have also emerged about the possible motive. Carlos Jiménez initially reported that the meeting involved a 300,000-peso loan; he later revealed that the detainee allegedly changed his version of events to claim that the dispute involved dollars and approximately 30 million pesos in bitcoin.

Timeline of the murder of Jonathan “Honas” Meléndez

Carlos Jiménez released a timeline that helps reconstruct some of the events that took place between the alleged perpetrator’s arrival and the discovery of the victims.

According to the journalist, at 5:24 p.m., Diego Sebastián Rosen allegedly went up to the penthouse. The Attorney General’s Office places the events at approximately between 5:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. on September 1.

At 8:10 p.m., the first call to the C4 emergency center was reportedly made. Twenty minutes later, at 8:30 p.m., a friend of Honas identified as Fred reported that he had not heard from him for approximately four hours.

The friend went to the residence and knocked on the door, but initially no one answered.

At 9:15 p.m., they knocked again. According to the timeline published by Jiménez, someone inside asked “who is it?” and noises could be heard, but those outside did not recognize the voice.

At 10:02 p.m., the Mexican Navy and the State of Mexico Attorney General’s Office were alerted. Finally, at around 11:10 p.m., Atizapán police officers and Navy personnel entered the penthouse with authorization from the property owner’s mother.

It was then that they found the victims. A video released by C4 Jiménez suggests that Diego Sebastián may have escaped through one of the windows.

Hours later, Diego Sebastián “N” and Gerardo “N” were arrested for their alleged involvement in the multiple homicide. The official investigation identifies Diego Sebastián as the alleged direct perpetrator.

Why was Jonathan Meléndez killed?

The possible motive is one of the issues that the Attorney General’s Office has yet to clarify.

The initial version reported by Carlos Jiménez indicated that Jonathan Meléndez was allegedly going to lend 300,000 pesos to Diego Sebastián, but the two reportedly got into an argument during the meeting.

However, Jiménez reported on September 3 that the detainee had allegedly changed his version of events. According to the journalist, Diego Sebastián now claimed that he had gone to demand dollars and approximately 30 million pesos in bitcoin and that the situation “got out of control.”

Other reports indicate that the cryptocurrency funds may have been linked to information stored on a device or memory drive.

What happened to Jonathan Meléndez and his family?

Jonathan Samuel Meléndez Ochoa, known as “Honas”, was a keyboardist, producer, and founder of Camilo Séptimo, a Mexican band formed in 2013.

The musician was killed inside his home along with his pregnant wife, Ana Paula; his three-year-old daughter, Sofía; and a domestic worker identified as Aleida Romero Victorio. The couple’s six-year-old son was found alive and with no apparent physical injuries.

The investigation suggests that the alleged perpetrator may have been able to enter the building without raising suspicion because of his relationship with Meléndez.

In fact, reports indicate that Jonathan had told a friend that he was going to meet with his business partner and that there were problems between them, a detail that later became important in reconstructing the events.

Who is Diego Sebastián, the businessman arrested in the Jonathan Meléndez case?

Diego Sebastián Rosen Ferlini is a 51-year-old Argentine businessman identified by authorities as the alleged perpetrator of the multiple homicide.

According to information available so far, he had a business relationship with Jonathan Meléndez linked to the property and vacation rental business.

Before entering this sector, Rosen was reportedly associated with Shark BTL, an advertising agency specializing in experiential marketing. He was later linked to property rental businesses operating under names such as +Relax and Nomad P.M.

The business offered vacation homes in destinations including Valle de Bravo, Acapulco, Tepoztlán, and Cuernavaca. There are even Nomad P.M. posts promoting a property in Madrid, Spain.

However, months before the murder of the Camilo Séptimo member, public allegations of alleged fraud against Rosen had already surfaced.

What was Diego Sebastián Rosen’s alleged modus operandi?

A post published on July 21, 2026, in a Facebook group accused Rosen of an alleged fraud involving nearly 500,000 pesos in connection with a rental in Valle de Bravo. Following Meléndez’s murder, another person told Radio Fórmula that their family had lost 400,000 pesos while attempting to rent a property in Acapulco.

The alleged modus operandi described by these individuals shared several similarities.

Customers would select a property, receive instructions to pay the full rental amount before checking in, and transfer the money. They would then be added to WhatsApp groups to coordinate their stay.

According to testimony obtained by Radio Fórmula, communication would stop after payment was made and customers would be blocked. In the case reported on Facebook, the rental was allegedly canceled one day before the scheduled stay and the money was not refunded.

The public allegations mentioned operations under the brands +Relax and later Nomad P.M.; so far, these claims should be understood as allegations and testimony from private individuals, not as judicial convictions for fraud.

Diego Sebastián was arrested on the morning of September 2 in the La Marquesa area, while Gerardo “N”, identified as his longtime associate, was also taken into custody.
