Maria Bartiromo’s Top Producer Also Out Amid Stunning Report Ex-anchor ‘betrayed’ Fox To Trump Admin

Mediaite has confirmed that Fox News Media has parted ways with not only Maria Bartiromo, but her top producer as well — on the heels of an explosive report that the longtime anchor had shared confidential internal guidance about the network’s coverage of President Donald Trump with the White House.

In news first reported by Puck’s Dylan Byers and confirmed by two sources close to the situation, Fox, on Thursday fired Patrick Ignozzi — the executive producer of Mornings with Maria on Fox Business.

This latest news comes on the heels of a blockbuster report from Status — which reported that Bartiromo’s sudden departure from the network on Thursday can be traced to an incident in July — when Fox Business management privately instructed senior employees not to lend credibility to claims Trump had made during a prime-time address about the 2020 election and China. Status’s Oliver Darcy reported that Bartiromo “spilled the secret” to the White House — an action which, according to Darcy, amounted to Bartiromo having “effectively betrayed her employer.” Byers reported that Bartiromo took a screenshot of guidance sent from a Fox Business executive to Fox Business producers which ordered that Bartiromo not pursue a story she wanted to do “related to China and 2020 election voter conspiracies. Per Byers, she sent that screenshot to senior White House officials. Fox executives learned about Bartiromo’s action after getting a call from the White House.

Status reported that Bartiromo was fired — though Fox News Media used the term “parting ways” in its release. The network promptly removed Bartiromo’s bio from its website. Her last broadcast was Aug. 9 — roughly three weeks after Trump’s speech.

Earlier in the day, Fox News Media said in a statement, “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.” In its story, Status added an additional comment from a network spokesperson saying,”this was a business decision and the release speaks for itself.”

The topic of the 2020 election was one on which Bartiromo had, for years, very much pushed the envelope. Her coverage was at the heart of the defamation claims made by Dominion Voting Systems, which the network settled for $787.5 million in 2023. In December 2020, Bartiromo said on the air that an “intel source” informed her that “President Trump did in fact win the election.
